Spent the weekend in the Trinity Alps. I grew up backpacking and fishing there and it brought back a lot of great memories from my childhood…needless to say we ate well.

On Assignment for Guardian UK

Hey Folks,

Im currently shooting a ‘live blogged’ travel story for the Guardian UK. It is a 5 day road trip story from Seattle to San Francisco. The thing is we can only stop and eat, drink, check out, and stay at places people recommend to us via Twitter or the Guardian’s website. Also, since it is all happening live I was asked and have been shooting it entirely on Instagram. I signed up for Instagram 3 months ago and shooting like this is the farthest thing from my ideal which is shooting with my 4x5 camera. Its been a challenge to let go and embrace the camera phone and also to give up on self editing and basically shooting something and throwing it up on the web 30 seconds later. A lot of this job is adapting and rolling with the punches and making the best out of what you are presented with…even if that is limitations with your gear.
